TikTok Shop Vietnam Logistics Operating Fee: The 10kg+ Surcharge, Checked

From October 12, 2026, 00:00 (GMT+7), TikTok Shop Vietnam charges a new logistics operating fee on every new-order parcel whose billing weight exceeds 10 kg: from 3,000 VND per parcel, rising in 0.5 kg tiers, capped at 65,000 VND (≈US$2.5) per parcel. The seller pays it, the buyer never sees it, and it is not refunded when the buyer returns the order. Here are the rules, who gets hit, and the three things to do before it bites.

Why TikTok is adding it

TikTok says the fee covers parcel sorting, transfer coordination, delivery-issue handling and basic shipping subsidies. The context is physical, not cosmetic: in 2026 TikTok’s Singapore-registered logistics arm Tokgistic received investment licences for a US$980 million Swift Logistics project in Ho Chi Minh City, on top of a US$125 million licence in April — over US$1.1 billion committed to Vietnamese logistics. Fees are how the platform pays for that infrastructure. Notably, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade opened an antitrust investigation into Shopee and TikTok Shop in September 2026, examining whether simultaneous fee increases across both platforms abuse market dominance — some sellers report total platform costs above 30%.

Who gets hit hardest

Parcels over 10 kg means furniture, home appliances, bulk groceries and other bulky goods. Vietnamese sellers of exactly those categories told local media the per-parcel fee erodes margins that are already thin — and unlike a percentage commission, this is a fixed per-parcel charge, so it does not shrink when your price does. Two compounding rules make it sting: the fee is invisible to buyers (you cannot pass it through at checkout), and it survives returns.

Three things to do before October 12

  1. Fix your declared weights and dimensions now. Settlement estimates run on what you listed; final charges use the carrier’s measured billing weight. An under-declared parcel pays more than your model assumed — this is the single most common way the fee surprises sellers.
  2. Re-price your 10 kg+ SKUs. Fold the per-parcel fee (3,000–65,000 VND, roughly US$0.11–2.50) into the unit economics of every heavy product, and remember it returns zero on refunds.
  3. Audit your settlement lines after go-live. Per-order charges appear in Seller Center’s settled-statements view; where the estimate and the actual deduction disagree, the settled figure is the authority.

What this means for US-market sellers

Nothing changes on the US fee stack: the standard referral fee for most categories is still 6% (5% for select fine-jewelry and pre-owned) with payment processing included, as of our October 11, 2026 check. A separate “8% from October 1, plus a 1.5% creator facilitation fee” claim is circulating — our verdict, with the full evidence trail, is in the fee rate updates log: unconfirmed, TikTok’s public US category table still lists 6%. Every TTCalc calculator is unchanged and models the confirmed US rates. Watching multiple markets? This Vietnam fee is exactly the kind of per-parcel cost our landed cost calculator is built to absorb — put it in “other fees” per unit.

Frequently asked questions

Do orders placed before October 12 pay the fee?

No. Orders successfully submitted before October 12, 2026, 00:00 (GMT+7) are exempt — even if they ship or settle afterwards. Only new orders created from October 12 onward carry the fee.

Is the fee refunded when a buyer returns the order?

No. TikTok Shop is explicit: once a parcel shows successful delivery, the logistics operating fee stays with the platform even if the buyer later returns the order or gets a refund.

Does it affect US sellers or TTCalc’s calculators?

No. This is a Vietnam local-market fee. The US referral fee (6% for most categories) is unchanged as of our October 11 check, so every TTCalc calculator keeps its current rates. Sellers serving both markets should model the fee only on their Vietnam listings.
