Quick answer
The default inputs ship an 8 oz product in a 10×8×6 inch box. The box measures 480 in³, so dimensional weight (480÷166 = 2.9 lb) governs and FBT bills the 2–3 lb tier: $6.27 per unit. Repack the same product in a 6×4×2 inch box and the official 2 lb / 332 in³ threshold applies — it bills at its actual half-pound weight, $4.52. The box alone is worth $1.75 per unit, about $175 a month at 100 units. FBT's eligibility ceiling is 150 lb and 108 in on the longest side.

Light and compact: actual weight only
Most small, dense products live here. If your unit is at or under 2 lb and its packaging stays within 332 cubic inches, the box size is irrelevant — the scale decides.
Everything else: the greater of the two
Exceed either threshold and dimensional weight enters the race. Bulky-but-light products — pillows, dog toys, cosmetic sets — routinely bill two or three tiers above what their scale weight suggests.
The warehouse's scale wins
The official footnote is explicit: “The actual unit weight is determined by FBT's warehouse during inbound processing.” Your kitchen scale is an estimate; their inbound scan is the bill. Weigh a finished, packaged sample before you list.
Where the tiers come from
02 / ratesThe per-unit rate card this calculator reads runs from ≤4 oz ($4.28, single-unit) to 15–16 lb ($12.67), effective July 13, 2026. Multi-unit orders of the same seller in one checkout drop the per-unit fee sharply — a 4-unit order lands near $1.56–$4.54 per unit depending on tier.
Every tier and both pricing tables are listed in the FBT fulfillment guide. The divisor people get wrong most often: TikTok divides by 166. Some guides quote 139 — the common domestic-parcel divisor — which would inflate dimensional weight by about 19% and scare you out of tiers you actually qualify for.

Your label plus packaging per unit — and honestly, your time: fulfillment, tracking entry, and the returns process all route back to you. If a comparison only works because your time is priced at zero, it is not a comparison.
What the 3PL number should include
Your 3PL's pick + pack + ship quote per unit, plus any monthly minimums amortized over volume. Quotes vary wildly by size and season — enter the number from your actual rate card, not a marketing page.
Why these two rows are inputs, not constants
TikTok publishes no self-ship or 3PL rates, and this site does not invent numbers. Any tool that hardcodes a "typical" 3PL fee is guessing on your behalf; here you bring the real quote and the math stays honest.

Everything else bills on the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight, where dimensional weight is length × width × height divided by 166.
What is the dimensional weight divisor for TikTok FBT?
166. A 10×8×6 inch box measures 480 cubic inches, and 480 ÷ 166 is 2.9 lb of dimensional weight. If you have seen a divisor of 139 quoted for TikTok FBT, that is the common domestic-parcel divisor, not TikTok's number — using it would overstate dimensional weight by roughly 19%.
How large can an FBT item be?
